Since its inception in 2009, Functional Training Institute Pte Ltd (FTI), an educational personal training institution dedicated to rehabilitation and functional training, do good to the community by empowering individuals of 3 generations from ages 6 to 96 live pain-free actively using its unique R`4 Methodology.
Our strong cohesive team of Rehab+Functional Training Specialists at FTI ensure our clients clearly understand the cause of their pain and empower them with the right knowledge to optimise function or improve peak performance to live a pain-free active life with zest, that is filled with intellectual interest, excitement, enthusiasm and energy.
We offer a diverse range of rehabilitation and functional activities in our 3,681 sq ft gym. These exciting activities include, 1-1 personal training, group private training, personal trainers’ certification workshops, educational workshops, free webinars and exclusive private group training for family & friends.
With our state-of-the-art functional training & rehabilitation exercise equipment and dedicated personal trainers, FTI is the perfect place for anyone, regardless of fitness level or physical condition, making us the ideal choice of CEOs, doctors and families.
Our in-house facilities also include a treatment room with luxury treatment beds. The treatment room allows rehab or therapy to be performed privately. It offers a relaxing & calming environment with soft lightings and reduced sound from the gym floor.
We offer a full range of fitness products from functional training equipment to rehab functional exercise tools that help our clients' recovery from injuries and improve their sports performance.

About
The CEO & Founder
Mr Nelson believes that everyone deserves to live a pain-free and quality active life. His vision of empowering thousands of individual live pain-free actively has won him numerous awards such as Spirit of Enterprise Honouree in Singapore, Outstanding Achievement Award by AASSP in China and recently the Regional Personal Trainer of The Year 2021 by Fitness Best Asia.
As an educator and specialist in rehabilitation and functional training with 23 years of experience in the health and fitness industry, he is highly sought after by CEOs, doctors, families, athletes and professionals from 6 to 96 years old with all kinds of chronic or acute pain, performance issues, movement dysfunction and postural disorder.
Formerly a Country Fitness Manager of a mega gym managing multiple clubs, Nelson has mentored hundreds of trainers and some has become fitness managers or gym owners today with his unique approach to mind, body and spirit. He is currently the founder and CEO of Functional Training Institute, mentoring aspiring trainers to become world class rehabilitation and functional training specialists.
Nelson Chong is founder of R`4 Methodology, inventor of the Dual Zone Myofascial Release Therapy Bals that empower others to live pain-free actively. He is a selfless, passionate, dynamic and innovative educator that has a great sense of humour. He frequently presents about rehabilitation and functional training at China, India, Malaysia, Italy, Philippines, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Australia & Singapore. He has also been featured in various media including The Straits Times, Zao Bao, Wan Bao, Ch 8 Good Morning Singapore and FM radio 938 Live. His dedication to functional training and rehabilitation has set a benchmark in the fitness industry to help more people live with zest pain-free.
