About the Company:
Armed with over 20 years of experience in the health food and supplements industry, Ricky Ong founded JR Life Sciences Pte Ltd (JR) in 2007. Motivated by the potential of the business, and inspired by his enthusiasm for success, Ricky has since established JR as one of the top three health supplements importers and distributors in Singapore through self-assurance, hard work and perseverance.
The story started with no own products and five counters in 2007. Two principal brands namely “Holistic Way” and “JR Life Sciences” have been founded and developed to over 100 stock-keeping units and sold in over 300 counters in pharmacies, health and personal care stores, and department stores in Singapore such as Guardian, Unity, Watson, Airport Pharmacy Changi Airport T4, WeIcia-BHG, BHG (BHG Bishan, CIementi and Jurong), Metro, Mustafa Centre, OG, Skin Belief, and e-commerce pIatforms (eg. Holistic Way official website, Shopee, Lazada, Qoo10, S Mart, Redmart etc.).
JR offers a wide range of vitamins, minerals, and natural health supplements such as multivitamins, antioxidants, fish oil, and probiotics. These help cleanse and vitalise the body holistically to improve immunity and wellness. The consumers are health-conscious customers seeking health supplements to enhance their lifestyle and wellness. They comprise men and women, and JR offers products for people who want to improve their health and married couples who care about the health of their children and family members.
JR’s product offering is centred around what is good and unique for consumers‘ well-being. JR strives to create quality natural health products using information derived from competitor analysis, partners' industry studies, and nutritional and dietary supplement journals. Hiring in-house Nutritionists was an initiative to create the space for new product research and development, manufacturer engagement, effective regulatory environment monitoring and a good resource for understanding market trends. This enabled JR to facilitate new product development while consistently abiding by authority requirements and delivering quality products to the market.
Through active application or invitation from the organizers, we are honoured with quite a number of awards such as Brands For Good, Singapore Prestige Brand Award (SPBA), Influential Brand, Superbrands, Business Excellence Award, Entrepreneur 100 Award, Golden Bull Award, SME 500 Award, SME Excellence and Consumer’s Choice Award. Apart from that, we are also honoured with Guardian Healthy Beauty Awards, Unity Popular Choice Awards, Beauty Insider Beauty and Wellness Awards and Watsons HWB Awards. The awards signify our brand prestige and recognition which improve our reputation and quality assurance among business partners and customers.

The Managing Director
Prior to the setting up of JR Life Sciences, Ricky used to work as a Sales Representative with Cambert, a leading importer and distributor of quality health supplements and skin care products. Later, he became the Regional Operations Manager and Country Manager for Singapore for over 20 years.
Armed with his industry knowledge and inspired by his mission to deliver quality health supplements and a holistic lifestyle to people, Ricky founded JR Life Sciences, guided by the core values of Commitment to provide high quality and good value to all its customers, staff and partners; Integrity in upholding the highest ethical standards; providing Quality through product innovation and service reliability; Passion and Excellence in its craft; and effective Teamwork through communication, cooperation, coordination and collaboration.
Ricky is a man who is passionate about what he does and values people. His company’s name ‘JR’ comprises two components: John and Ricky. This was a tribute to his good friend named John. Today, the office and the workforce have expanded from one unit and five employees to five units and over 90 employees.
Ricky emphasizes on social value creation instead of focusing solely on profits to create a socially just space for communities to thrive and to improve the lives of our community, particularly vulnerable groups. What goes around comes around. Do good and good will come back to you in unexpected ways. As a devout Buddhist, Ricky strongly believes what the religion teaches us “To do what is right and always do good”.
