About the Company:
Established in Singapore in 2017, OSG Youth Alliance is a youth-focused social enterprise that nurtures a network of global-minded and enterprising youths who believe in leading and creating a positive impact across Singapore, China, and the world. We believe that every youth should have the capabilities and opportunities to fulfill their career and entrepreneurial aspirations on a global stage and OSG Youth Alliance will be a strong enabling partner to fulfill their aspirations.
We achieve this by harnessing the support globally from public and private sectors as well as individuals to connect our youth across geographical and cultural backgrounds with meaningful and sustainable programs. To date, OSG Youth Alliance has organized more than 120 events across Singapore, Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Hangzhou, participated by more than 4,000 students and young professionals from Singapore, China, and other ASEAN nations. The events range from Fire-side chats (Curious Potato Series), Signature Programs (like Bonding Beyond Borders, and Makerthons), Virtual Internship Programs, and Learning Journeys (visits to global companies and cities).
OSG Youth Alliance has formed a strong advisory team chaired by industry leaders like Mr. Bhaskar Pant, Executive Director of MIT Professional Education, Mr. Pang Yee Ean, CEO of Surbana Jurong Capital, and Ms. Robyn Tan, CEO of KrAsia. In addition, most of our events are supported by Singapore's National Youth Council, Singapore Global Network, and Business China.
"All youths must be given the opportunity of emerging from their comfort zones to explore, experience and excel on a global stage"
Founder / Director:
Dr. Tan Eng Han has been deeply involved in various businesses in China over the past 28 years, including several Edtech startups, and taking on P&L responsibilities in Mainland China and the ASEAN regions for both Singapore and US-headquartered companies.
Over the last decade, Eng Han noticed an increased number of Singaporean tertiary students in major Chinese cities either on degree programs, corporate internships, or educational exchanges. Through his occasional engagements with these students, Eng Han saw a strong need for a formal youth engagement and development platform that will allow Singaporean youths to learn and share with overseas expatriates in China as well as Chinese students. Thus, he set up a youth-focused social enterprise, OSG Youth Alliance to accomplish these goals.
Through his personal professional and social connections in both China and Singapore, Eng Han has organized more than 120 events both in China and Singapore since 2017 that has benefited more than 4,000 students and young professionals. These cross-border events and programs resulted in a greater understanding of China from cultural, social, and business angles, as well as cultivating deep friendships and mutual understandings.
Besides organizing events for the benefit of Singapore and China youths, OSG Youth Alliance has organized a 1,000-book collection in both 2018 and 2019 for the benefit of several rural schools in remote parts of China. In addition, we organized a 200-km Charity Run in Shanghai during the 2019 Singapore National Day, raising RMB200K (SGD40K) for a liver-transplant operation for a young orphan girl at the Shanghai Baby Homes. These events would not have been possible without the leadership and support of OSG Youth Alliance staff, volunteers and donors.
Apart from OSG Youth Alliance, Eng Han is the Regional Director (Asia) for ACT Inc (USA), VC Investor at VU Capital Partners, and Exco Member for Singapore-China Association and International Zhenghe Society. Eng Han has a Doctor of Business Administration Degree from the University of South Australia, an MBA degree from the University of Hull, and an Accountancy Bachelor's degree from Nanyang Technological University (NTU).
