About the
Founder / Director:
Dr. Tan Eng Han has been deeply involved in various businesses in China over the past 28 years, including several Edtech startups, and taking on P&L responsibilities in Mainland China and the ASEAN regions for both Singapore and US-headquartered companies.
Â
Over the last decade, Eng Han noticed an increased number of Singaporean tertiary students in major Chinese cities either on degree programs, corporate internships, or educational exchanges. Through his occasional engagements with these students, Eng Han saw a strong need for a formal youth engagement and development platform that will allow Singaporean youths to learn and share with overseas expatriates in China as well as Chinese students. Thus, he set up a youth-focused social enterprise, OSG Youth Alliance to accomplish these goals.
Â
Through his personal professional and social connections in both China and Singapore, Eng Han has organized more than 150 events both in ASEAN, China and India since 2017 that has benefited more than 10,000 students and young professionals. These cross-border events and programs resulted in a greater understanding of China from cultural, social, and business angles, as well as cultivating deep friendships and mutual understandings.
Â
Besides organizing events for the benefit of Singapore and China youths, OSG Youth Alliance has organized a 1,000-book collection in both 2018 and 2019 for the benefit of several rural schools in remote parts of China. In addition, we organized a 200-km Charity Run in Shanghai during the 2019 Singapore National Day, raising RMB200K (SGD40K) for a liver-transplant operation for a young orphan girl at the Shanghai Baby Homes. These events would not have been possible without the leadership and support of OSG Youth Alliance staff, volunteers and donors.
Â
Apart from OSG Youth Alliance, Eng Han is the Regional Director (Asia) for ACT Inc (USA), VC Investor at VU Capital Partners, and Sec Gen for Singapore China Association.
Â
Eng Han has a Doctor of Business Administration Degree from the University of South Australia, an MBA degree from the University of Hull, and an Accountancy Bachelor's degree from Nanyang Technological University (NTU).
