SCHOLASTIC TRUST (SINGAPORE) LIMITED is a philanthropic endowment and Educational Trust, with structured programs across 45 countries to groom, develop, guide and support talented primary, secondary and high school students to become useful citizens contributing to the development of their respective national home countries.

 

Focusing on "Building International Friendships and Connection" towards a better world of cooperation and understanding, we positively impact young students' lives, bridging Singapore to the World as a center of excellence.

 

Scholastic Trust Singapore (STS) supports social contribution educational impact, mentoring teachers and students to improve achievement performance through promoting international academic and cultural competitions. Beyond core student programs, STS funds training diverse countries national school teachers and supports national country MOE (Ministry of Education). Training national teachers to understand the value of academic competitions and assessments, STS supports their teaching effectiveness and ability to identify and nurture national student talent. Once these students are nurtured, they can contribute to the national development of their countries.

 

As a non-profit foundation, STS awards scholarships and supports mentorship programs for students and teachers to transform lives. We fund professional development for teachers and Southern Illinois University (SIU) scholarships, offerring SIU International Student Tuition Grants. STS manages the International Junior Honor Society (IJHS), Young Achievers Leadership Academy (YALA) and the STS Teachers' Institute (STSTI). IJHS provides free memberships to top students from grades 1 to 12 and offers scholarships to the Young Achievers Leadership Academy (YALA) to train the next generation of “social impact leaders”. IJHS and YALA have over 7600+ student members who are now leading social equity and giving back to their local communities. STS has also partnered with Professor Lee-Ann Laffey (USA University Scholarships Counselor) to help student participants and IJHS Fellows gain Admission and Scholarships to popular top universities globally.

Henry graduated with B.Sc in Finance (High Honors) and MBA in International Business. Awarded an international student tuition grant, and graduate assistantship at SIU College of Business and a Presidential Fellowship from Southern Illinois University, he is pursuing his Doctorate in Educational Policy and Organizational Leadership from University of Illinois, Champaign Urbana, USA writing his dissertation on academic competitions.

 

Holding global positions at Fortune 500 ranked Whirlpool Corporation from 1985 to 1995, as Global HQ Internal Auditor and Senior Corporate Planner to CEO, he also served as Sales Manager-Asia Pacific and Whirlpool’s youngest Managing Director at 32 years old, setting up Whirlpool Singapore and Whirlpool Malaysia new staffing and systems, to S$35 million first year sales. As Acquisitions Director, he structured Whirlpool purchasing three joint venture China factories, then returned to Singapore in 1995 as Whirlpool’s Asian Audit Director. 

 

Henry left the corporate world and started his own business supplying educational resources to schools in ASEAN, and then SIMCC and Scholastic Trust Singapore (STS). Henry set new standards for uplifting lives of students and teachers around the world through international academic and cultural competitions. His affiliated social enterprise SIMCC, supports academic competitions in 45 countries to funding global competitions, strategically leading Singapore's involvement in international academic competitions. Singapore students top Mathematics and Science education since early 1990s global ranking for PISA and TIMSS.  Through SIMCC, Henry is sharing Singapore’s key success elements in Math, Science, and English teaching resources and teacher education, with the world by organizing the Singapore Math, Science, and English Global Assessments and Global Finals. These competitions provide valuable formative and summative assessment reports, certificates, medals, awards, scholarships, induction into the International Junior Honor Society (IJHS) and many other valuable services that help participants gain admissions and scholarships to the best educational institutions and universities.Henry is the founder of the Singapore and Asian Schools Math Olympiad (SASMO), which is Singapore’s largest math competition worldwide and his team organizes and created popular international competitions like the Singapore International Math Olympiad Challenge (SIMOC), American Mathematics Olympiad (AMO), VANDA International Science Competition, Design Thinking with Robotics and Computational Thinking (DrCT), BEBRAS Computational Thinking International Competition and Singapore Math Kangaroo Competition (SMKC).  STEAM AHEAD Global Finals is an innovative global competition with the combination of International Junior Mathematics Olympiad (IJMO), VANDA Science, and DrCT Global Finals.

 

In 2016, Henry created his first philanthropy endowment by donating 20% of SIMCC annual revenue generated from academic competitions to set up the Scholastic Trust Singapore Limited (STS), a non-profit foundation. STS's goal is to improve teacher training in academic competitions and get them to understand the value of these competitions in identifying and nurturing students' talent. Once these students are nurtured, they can contribute to the national development of their countries. Henry also funds professional development for teachers and Southern Illinois University (SIU) scholarships, offerring SIU International Student Tuition Grants.
