About the
Group CEO - Peter Koh
Mr Peter H.K. Koh, PBM, was appointed as the Group’s Chief Executive Officer in December 2014 to spearhead and turnaround a company that has been placed on SGX-ST watchlist and was in the danger of going bankrupt due to a $94 million in debt.
Mr Koh has been instrumental in driving the strategic direction and development of the Group’s business, including the diversification and expansion of the Group’s business model beyond farming, building new income streams for Oceanus’ long term sustainable growth.
The results of his efforts can be seen in December 2017 when he successfully spearheaded and completed the Group’s debt restructuring exercise, which reversed the Group’s balance sheet back into the black. He was also pivotal in leading the Group successful exit from SGX-ST Watchlist, which made Oceanus the first company in the history of SGX-ST that had successfully achieved a complete turnaround from an extended dire situation.
In recognition of his efforts and pivotal role in the Group’s successful restructuring, Oceanus was conferred ASEAN Business Awards 2019 in Recognition of “SME Excellence (Growth)” by ASEAN Business Advisory Council. Mr Koh was also awarded the 2018 Outstanding CEO Award by Influential Brands, which was held in conjunction with the 2018 ASIA CEO Summit.
Mr Koh has more than three decades of experience across multiple industries, including media, branding, manufacturing and environment sustainability. Within the aquaculture industry, Mr Koh has taken up various positions with aquaculture innovation and research bodies, such as member of Advisory Board of James Cook University, a member of Advisory Council of the Singapore Aquaculture Innovation Centre. Mr Koh also represents Oceanus as the Vice President, Abalone Association, China Aquatic Products Circulation And Processing Association.
In 2021, Mr Koh was appointed as a member for the Future Economy Council Reserve and Environment Sustainability, a committee set up by the Ministry for Sustainability and the Environment, which oversees the implementation of the recommendations of the Committee of Future Economy.
An astute entrepreneur, Mr Koh actively champions social causes and was conferred the Public Service Medal in 2014.
