D) Courage For Life
We believe that people will be inspired when they attend our Courage For Life events (Power of Purpose workshops & the Empowered Youth Leadership Conference EYLC) and through the sharing of Courage Stories with each other. We can all learn from each other on how to overcome challenges and adversity.
The Empowered Youth Leadership Conference EYLC began with a simple conversation among friends over coffee, driven by a shared belief that we could make a difference in the lives of today’s youth. With our collective expertise, connections, and resources—no matter how small—we knew we could lead by example. Our goal is to show that no good deed is too small, and every effort counts toward creating a lasting impact. We believe that each one of us, in our unique way, can empower the next generation and shape a brighter future for them. Hence, together, we decided to take a step to spark meaningful endeavour.
The objectives of the EYLC Conference are threefold:
(a) serves as a fun and motivational annual event, designed to inspire and encourage youth to understand and embrace the values of purposeful leadership. By featuring dynamic speakers, interactive workshops, and engaging activities, the conference brings leadership principles to life in a way that resonates with young people. The goal is to show youth that leadership is not just about titles or authority, but about making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Attendees are encouraged to reflect on their values and how they can apply them to inspire positive change in their communities and beyond. Through these experiences, we aim to ignite a passion for leadership rooted in purpose, empowering youth to become leaders who create lasting social impact.
(b) the conference also serves as a platform to build new, positive friendships among youth, offering them the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals who share similar goals and values. We recognize that youth today face unique challenges, particularly in navigating the pressures of modern capitalism, such as materialism, social comparison, and the pursuit of success at any cost. Through open discussions and peer support, the conference creates a safe space for youth to share their struggles, gain insights, and build empathy with others. By forming supportive peer networks, participants are encouraged to stay grounded in their principles and face challenges together, reinforcing the power of collaboration and mutual support.
Finally, (c) the conference goes beyond traditional learning by focusing on building values beyond the textbook. While academic achievements are important, we believe in equipping youth with practical skills that extend beyond the classroom. Leadership, emotional intelligence, communication, and critical thinking are all essential skills for navigating today’s world. The conference partners with organizations and mentors to create a support system that helps youth grow holistically, both personally and professionally. Director:
Mr Lawrence Lee is a seasoned and result-driven Human Resource professional with more than 30 years’ experience, including learning & development, HR, compensation & benefits and talent management at strategic & global level. He has worked & lived in Singapore, Zurich, Hong Kong & Shanghai.
He founded Add Courage in 2009 and till date, it has provided consultancy services to clients in multiple countries like South Korea, Sri Lanka, the UAE and the United Kingdom. He has also been invited to conferences and meetings held all over Asia, including China, Cambodia, Thailand, Indonesia and Singapore.
He is Chairman of the Empowered Youth Leadership Conference; Chairman of the Board of Evangelism And Missions (Overseas) Committee; Board HR Committee Member for Suncare SG & Council Member, Gerson Lehrman Group GLG based in New York.
Lawrence was awarded an MSc in Human Resource Management and Development by the University of Salford, Manchester and a Postgraduate Diploma in International HR & Globalisation by the University of Leicester.
Add Courage was awarded the “Corporate Training & HR Solutions Company of the Year 2024” at the Singapore Business Awards. Lawrence was also named “CEO of the Year 2024” by APAC Insider based in the United Kingdom.
He also authored a book, The Purpose Formula published in 2022.
