BR Metals Pte. Ltd.
BR Metals Pte. Ltd.

About the Company:

BR Metals was founded in 2009 with the principal objective of minimizing the detrimental impacts on the environment and communities brought on by Platinum Group Metals (PGM) mining.

Today, the company is a leading processor and recycler of end-of-life catalytic converters and other PGM scraps in Asia. Catalytic converters are exhaust emission control devices that reduce toxic pollutants from vehicles and contain valuable PGMs like Platinum, Palladium, and Rhodium. In fact, more than 60% of the global PGM supply is used in catalytic converters.

Our facilities in Singapore, China, and our newly established facility in Johor Bahru (JB), Malaysia, are equipped to process and accurately analyze PGM content in these scrap materials for optimal recovery at our partner refineries. We also operate representative offices in Vietnam and Thailand to be closer to our growing customer base in the region.

Since 2016, we have reclaimed an estimated 80,000 oz.t of PGMs annually and returned these high-demand, finite resources to the circular economy—particularly the automotive industry—without the detrimental environmental and social impacts of mining.

In line with our commitment to sustainability and innovation, we have also expanded our service portfolio to include the recovery of gold and other precious metals from secondary materials, such as electronic components, jewelry sweeps, and old jewelry. This enables us to further contribute to resource conservation and a more sustainable future.

In addition to our steadfast commitment to conducting business in a socially responsible and environmentally sustainable manner, we firmly believe in the transformative power of education to improve lives and uplift communities—making them more sustainable, productive, and prosperous with higher living standards. That is why our social initiatives focus on providing or sponsoring educational opportunities to create lasting, positive impact.

We support the education of underprivileged children through partnerships with Singapore-based AZK Business Consultants and the Phongsavanh Foundation to rebuild a village school in the rural, mountainous province of Xaysomboun, Laos. Completed in 2021, the new school goes beyond just a fresh coat of paint. It now features well-equipped classrooms with proper desks and chairs to ensure students learn in a safe and comfortable environment. Separate toilet facilities for boys and girls, as well as a clean water supply, were also constructed within the school compound. In addition, we provide free education and meals so that children can remain in school longer and receive a proper education. Today, these students not only have a conducive place to study but also a safe space to play after school.

We also established the BR Metals Scholarship for the Bachelor of Engineering with Honours in Sustainable Built Environment (SBE) at the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), Singapore’s first university of applied learning. We chose to collaborate with SIT because we are convinced that applied learning equips students with the practical skills and forward-thinking mindset needed to succeed in real-world challenges.

Looking ahead, we will sponsor the Empowered Youth Leadership Conference 2025 in Laos—a Brands for Good initiative. This sponsorship allows us to help inspire and empower the next generation of leaders in Laos, while strengthening partnerships with local universities. We deeply appreciate the shared commitment of government authorities, academia, and local organisations in championing youth development.

Furthermore, we recognise that access to justice is a cornerstone of a fair and inclusive society. As part of our broader commitment to social justice, we are proud to sponsor Pro Bono SG, which promotes equal access to legal aid for the underprivileged and works to build a more equitable community for all.

Last but not least, we donate generously to the Senior Citizens programme fund at Bukit Gombak GRC so that the Pioneer and Merdeka generations could enjoy regular social events and nutrious meals delivered to their homes.

BR Metals Guangzhou regularly donates books and journals about current environmental issues, urban mining and conservation to schools and public libraries. We are hopeful our book donations will raise awareness and inspire actions to save our planet for future generations.

Driving Impact, Inspiring Action

At BR Metals, corporate success goes hand in hand with social responsibility. From championing education and equal access to justice, to empowering youth and supporting underserved communities, we believe in using our resources and influence to create lasting, meaningful change.

Whether it’s funding scholarships, supporting special needs programmes, protecting the environment, or uplifting migrant and senior communities, our initiatives reflect a deep commitment to building a more inclusive, compassionate, and sustainable future.

But we know real impact doesn’t happen in isolation.

Through every partnership, donation, and act of service, we hope to inspire others—businesses, individuals, and communities alike—to join us in doing good. Because when we lead with purpose and work together, ordinary efforts become extraordinary outcomes.

Together, let’s shape a better world.
